After driving its popular Kwid car in 800 cc and 1000 cc variants, the French car maker Renault has now launched the hatch with AMT or an automated manual transmission . Renault first showed the Kwid AMT at the Auto Expo earlier this year. The AMTs have been very well received in India because they offer convenience, affordability and maintenance of a manual gearbox and that is precisely why the French car maker is Very important on the Kwid AMT.
Instead of a conventional shift lever, the car is equipped with a rotating dial that has only 3 options – Neutral, Drive and Reverse – and there is no option to Manual driving of the car. The company is promising with a mileage of 24 kmpl on the Kwid AMT and costs 4.25 lakh rupees (ex-showroom, Delhi) which is only Rs. 25,000 more than the manual variant.
